Shaheen Afridi, one of the Pakistan's threatening fast bowlers at present, was on fire with the new ball during the third and final match at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, November 10.
In his first over, Shaheen took the key wicket of Aaron Hardie in the seventh over of Australia's innings. On the very first ball, Shaheen bowled a solid delivery at 130.4 km/h. Hardie tried to leave the ball, but it was too late to pull his bat away. The ball nipped the edge of his bat and flew to second slip, where Salman Agha made a brilliant diving catch to send Hardie back to the dressing room for 12 runs off 13 balls.
This was a well-deserved wicket for Shaheen, whose accurate bowling was paying off, and as a result, Aaron Hardie had to depart.
Pakistan Put Australia Under Pressure
Earlier in the match, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl. Their decision quickly paid off when Naseem Shah made the first breakthrough for Pakistan, dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk cheaply with a perfect inswinger. Shah didn’t stop there; he struck again, removing the captain Josh Inglis for just 7 runs. This match is crucial for both teams, as it will decide the series winner, with the score tied 1-1. Pakistan have been working hard to make the most of the new ball and are focused on keeping the Aussies to a manageable score.
At the time of writing, Australia are at 63 for three wickets, with Matthew Short on 22* and Cooper Connolly on 6*, both at the crease.
