[Watch] Babar Azam Offers Prayers As He Slams History T20 Feat

Babar Azam smeared a high-class 104 at the top of the order for Colombo Strikers amidst a daunting run-chase against Galle Titans. Chasing 189 for victory in match number 10 of the ongoing LPL 2023 season, his innings kept Strikers ahead of their required rate from the outset, before Mohammad Nawaz’ final over blitz guided them past the finishing line with a ball to spare.

Fittingly, Azam was adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts as he continues his splendid run with the bat in his maiden LPL stint. His latest innings also marked his 10th century in T20 cricket, thus extending his tally from the rest and taking him closer to all-time great Chris Gayle.


Babar Azam second to get to 10 T20 centuries

Chasing 189 for a win, Babar Azam orchestrated a dramatic finish to the game with a successful run-chase for the Colombo Strikers. The overseas star smeared 104 from just 59 balls and guided his side until the final over before losing his wicket just prior to the finishing line. The opening batsman packed eight boundaries and five sixes in the innings, as he notched up his maiden LPL hundred and the 10th of his glorious T20 career.

Remarkably, Azam now becomes only the second cricketer in T20 history after Chris Gayle to get to 10 centuries. The T20 behemoth from West Indies, on the other hand, is miles ahead of anyone else with 22 tons in the format.

The Pakistani batting veteran, as of now, is two centuries clear of third-placed Michael Klinger, David Warner and Virat Kohli.

Babar Azam will now turn up for Colombo Strikers in their subsequent challenge, set to be played on August 8 against Jaffna Kings. The match will be hosted by the Pallekele International Stadium.
