Shubman Gill indulged in a hilarious dressing room chat with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after the team's tremendous win against Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup 2023 league-stage encounter in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

The prodigious young Indian opener asked his experienced top-order partner and team leader for his immediate thoughts after the seven-wicket triumph versus the Bangla Tigers. Rohit brought his ever-humorous avatar to the fore during their change-room interaction and gave funny responses.

In his inimitable style, the Mumbaikar told his 24-year-old teammate why he got dismissed playing his trademark pull shot to the square-leg region on 48 off 40 deliveries. The in-form batter admitted he should've taken the aerial route for his stroke rather than playing the ball peerlessly close to the catching man Towhid Hridoy.

Rohit's response to Gill's question if the modern-day stalwart felt angry at himself for not trying to elevate the ball for another maximum, having smashed two previous maximums in another of his special knock against the new-ball attack.

Gill's Funny Post-Match Chat With Rohit

On a pitch that made powerhitting a stiff job once the shine wears off, Rohit quite literally ended another run-chase with his opening blitz. With India chasing a modest 257-run target, Rohit's amazing top-order assault with Gill meant the famous duo raced above 6 an over during their valiant 88-run partnership.

Rohit was on the verge of his third straight half-century of the tournament when he dispatched pacer Hasan Mahmud for a ferocious pull towards the backward square-leg region. However, to his disbelief, Hridoy placed there took a fantastic grab to send the great right-hander back in the shed.

Eventually, however, Rohit was fine to admit his mistake, feeling relieved and jubilant about India's fourth successive victory of the competition. The batter also wore a relaxed outlook at the prospect of facing India's historic nemesis New Zealand in the next match in Dharamshala on Sunday (October 22).

Notably, the Kiwis have beaten India in each of the two nations' World Cup clashes since going down at the 2003 edition in South Africa.

Rohit unveiled India were also due to send utility fast-bowling allrounder Shardul Thakur at No.5 in place of KL Rahul but with Shreyas Iyer getting out on 19 and a further 78 runs required, the decision was made to retain the original batting order.
