India faced UAE in a crucial face off in the U19 Asia Cup. It was a crucial game for India as they needed to win this to qualify for the semi-finals.
The Indian team passed the test with flying colours as they dominated the contest thoroughly and won with breaking much sweat. UAE batted first in the game and were bundled out for just 137 runs in 44 overs.
Yudhajit Guha Leads India's Bowling Effort
The whole Indian bowling clicked during the game, but it was Yudhajit Guha, who was the star of the show. The young pacer picked up three wickets for 15 runs in his seven overs. Besides Guha, Chetan Sharma and Hardik Raj also chipped in with a couple of wickets each.
After the great job by the bowling unit, it was expected of the batters to deliver a strong show and earn a convincing win for the team. The two openers of the team, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered exactly what the doctor ordered for India. Both the batters remained unbeaten after scoring half-centuries and took the team to a massive 10 wicket win with about 34 overs remaining.
Mhatre Plays A Sparkling Knock To Take India Home
Mhatre played a brilliant knock of 67 runs from 51 deliveries during his stay in the middle. His knock was studded with four beautiful fours and four stunning sixes. One particular shot caught the eyers of the fan as it was a filled with grace and class.
On the fifth delivery of the ninth over, Ayaan Khan bowled a fullish delivery at the off and middle stump line. Mhatre read the length early and danced down the track to loft the ball over the mid-wicket region for a huge maximum.
Chennai Super Kings Did Not Bid For Mhatre During The Auction
Notably, just ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Chennai Super Kings called Mhatre for a trial in their nets. Rumours were rife that MS Dhoni was impressed by his batting. However, when Mhatre came up in the auction, the five time IPL champions did not bid for him. This sparkling knock by the right handed opening batter might make the management regret about missing out on a young talent.
