The Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL )kickstarted on Thursday, August 22. Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders started their campaign on Friday, when they faced Barbados Royals.
TKR's campaign started on a low note as they faced a seven-wicket defeat against the Royals. The only positive for the Knight Riders in the bowling was Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen.

Jonassen took two wickets, including the important scalp of Chamari Athapaththu. Meanwhile, Jonassen also hogged the limelight after he pulled out a Shahrukh Khan-inspired celebration after taking Aaliyah Alleyne's wicket.
On the 3rd ball of the 15th over, Jonassen cleaned up Alleyne for 11 (16), following which he performed the famous Shahrukh Khan pose from Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jaaenge.

It is worth noting that Trinbago Knight Riders is a sister franchise to Kolkata Knight Riders and is owned by Shahrukh Khan. TKR have won the WPCL four times in the tournament history, but their last win came in 2020.

Three teams partake in the WCPL, and at the time of writing this article, TKR are placed last on the table with a defeat in their opening game. They will next face Guyana Amazon Warriors.
