In a heated confrontation, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam lost his cool and hurled relentless abuses at wicket-keeper Irfan Sukkur before umpires and players intervened and separated the two individuals.

Rangpur Riders took on Durdanto Dhaka in the 12th matchup of the BPL 2024 season earlier today. After being put into bat first, the Riders opened with Brandon King and Pakistan star batter Babar Azam.

That being said, Azam struggled his way through the first 10 overs of the first innings. He failed to optimize the powerplay field restriction, and his struggles only worsened as the game progressed before he eventually picked up pace after the run-a-ball half-century.

Regardless, the early setback led to frustration as Babar Azam looked extremely pissed at himself. However, things took an ugly turn when Dhaka wicket-keeper Irfan Sukkur confronted Babar, alleging foul words were being directed by the Pakistani batter towards him.

However, Babar Azam lost his cool and snapped at Sukkur in an aggressive manner, saying he wasn't talking to him. Instead, he was speaking to himself. Sukkur was taken aback by Babar's aggression and asked him to calm down.

Later, the umpires and Dhaka captain intervened and separated the players. However, Babar Azam's rage had reached its peak. Even after Irfan Sukkur backed down, Azam was seen hurling relentless abuses at the wicket-keeper and animatedly explaining the incident to his partner, Mohammad Nabi.

Seeing the ex-Pakistan captain's foul rant, Sukkur said something in his defense, and the ugly verbal brawl only intensified. Fortunately, both umpires played mediator and averted any major scene.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam channeled his anger and frustration into guiding the Riders to an above-par total of 183 runs.

Having said that, Babar's recent outburst was linked to his subpar form with the bat. Ever since the ODI World Cup exit, the ex-skipper has been struggling his way through his worst career phase. Moreover, with the T20 World Cup around the corner, Azam is desperate to regain his form.
