Ex-Pakistan captain Babar Azam lost his important wicket to fellow countrymate Mumammad Wasim Jr. in a BPL game between Khulna Tigers and Rangpur Riders held earlier today. However, the controversial umpiring caught the fans' attention and led to intense chaos on the internet.

Khulna Tigers clashed with Rangpur Riders in a BPL 2024 game earlier today. Chasing a total of 160 runs, the Riders opener Rony Talkudar and former Pakistan captain Babar Azam stepped up to the challenge.

However, the prominent batter lost his wicket in the second over of the chase to his Pakistan teammate Muhammad Wasim Jr. The fast bowler trapped his former captain on the pads with a straight-up length delivery. While the umpires deemed it out, Babar challenged it immediately. To the naked eye, it looked like the ball would have missed leg stump. Thus, the batter challenged his fate.

However, replays show the ball had just clipped leg stump, and the umpire's on-field decision was upheld. While the batter looked frustrated, he had to drag himself out of the field as Rangpur Riders lost an important wicket early into the chase.

That being said, Babar Azam fans back in Pakistan were extremely unhappy with the umpiring standards and called out the same on social media. Many highlighted Azam's bad luck, as he has been getting dismissed in the same fashion for a while now.

Regardless, the outrage over the controversial DRS decisions is nothing new. Chorus over a more accurate and decisive technology has gained momentum. However, ICC currently is unequipped with more advanced technology, and thus, the cricket community will have to settle with whatever is available at their helm.

That being said, Babar Azam's early wicket cost Rangpur Riders the game as they fell short of 28 runs in the chase against Khulna Tigers.
