During a crucial match of the ILT20 2025 season between MI Emirates and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Alzarri Joseph struck twice in a single over to shatter Kyle Mayers and Michael Pepper in two successive deliveries. His dual strike rocked ADKR early in the powerplay.

The ILT20 2025 season hosted a high-voltage clash between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and MI Emirates. The Knight Riders batted first after Emirates won the toss and opted to bowl first.

MI Emirates’ strategy worked as Alzarri Joseph picked two wickets in a single over to shatter Knight Riders’ spirits early in the powerplay.

Alzarri Joseph overpowers ADKR’s top order

Alzarri Joseph delivered a fiery over, shaking the opposition with two quick wickets in consecutive deliveries. His first victim was Kyle Mayers, who was clean bowled by a full delivery that swung in late.

Mayers attempted an expansive drive without proper footwork and got a thick inside edge that crashed into the stumps. He departed for 11 runs off 12 balls, which included two boundaries.

With the pressure mounting, Michael Pepper walked in to face Joseph’s next delivery, but his stay at the crease was short-lived. Pepper fell for a golden duck, becoming Joseph’s second successive victim.

The bowler delivered a short and wide teaser, inviting Pepper to steer the ball towards the off-side. However, the batter’s hesitant shot lacked conviction and was chipped straight to Muhammad Waseem at backward point. The catch was safely pouched and the Knight Riders were down to 17/2 in 3.2 overs.
