Akash Madhwal was the find of the 2023 IPL season for MI but did not get an opportunity to play in the first two games of the 2024 season. However, the right-arm pacer has roared back in style in the third game with a fantastic three-wicket haul against RR when no other bowler from his side could make an impact.

Madhwal got the wickets of Buttler and Samson first up and then when the game seemed to be done and dusted with Ashwin and Parag building good partnership, he again found the breakthrough for MI.

It was a skiddy length delivery angling into middle and leg and Ashwin tried to work it towards the leg side. However, the RR batter got the leading edge and the ball went high in the air behind point.

Tilak Varma though kept his calm and kept his eyes on the ball while running backward as he grabbed a brilliant running catch.

However, it was little too late for MI and RR still managed to get over the line on the back of a yet another fantastic fifty from Riyan Parag.
