Adil Rashid, who once hit 180 in First-Class cricket, showed his batting prowess on Thursday during England's World Cup 2023 opener against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The England's leg-spinner, coming to bat at No. 10, smashed a thunderous six against Jimmy Neesham to leave the spectators in awe.

In the final over of England's innings, Neesham bowled it at slot, and Rashid picked it perfectly by moving his front leg out of the way. With ease, the 35-year-old sent it over deep mid-wicket for an 83-meter six.

Neesham had a very ordinary outing, having conceded 56 runs off his seven overs without taking any wickets. Matt Henry was the pick of the bowler, claiming 3/48 which included two big wickets of Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler. Glenn Phillips also picked up two important wickets, of Moeen Ali, and Joe Root (77 off 86 balls).

England required something special from Rashid after they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. After being put into bat, the defending champions lost as many as nine wickets on a track that is known for being a batting paradise.

England, meanwhile, have finished their innings on 282/9, with Root being the top-scorer of the innings.
