Abhishek with a reckless shot [Source: JioCinema/Screengrab]
Abhishek Sharma is a terrific player, but the southpaw has a glaring weakness which the world tends to exploit. On fast and bouncy pitches of South Africa, the home team has time and again peppered him with short-pitched balls and it has done wonders for them.
A similar incident ocurred in the 4th T20I between India and South Africa. The southpaw was looking dangerous and was etching closer to the fifty-run mark. However, Proteas pacer Lutho Sipamla had some other plans as he bowled a perfect delivery to get rid off the Indian batter.
In the previous few overs, Abhishek had a couple of misses while playing bouncers, and hence, Sipamla tried the same tactics and he succeeded. He banged it short outside the off as Abhishek moved away from the line of the ball and goes for a wild slog as the outside-edge is safely taken by Heinrich Klaasen. He scored 36 off 18 and laid the foundation for his team.
Samson, Abhishek gave fiery start to India
In the 4th T20I match, Sanju Samson and Abhishek came out all guns blazing as they took full advantage of good batting wickets. Abhishek was dropped early in the innings, but that was the only chance the duo gave to the Proteas.
Samson started the carnage with a mammoth six and Abhishek, soon, joined the fun as India raced away to fifty in no time. However, just when the two were taking the game away from the opposition, Sipamla broke the partnership with the big wicket of Abhishek.
The duo added 73 runs for the first wicket as Tilak Varma arrived at the crease to give his support to Samson.
