Gardner’s Explosive Show
As the Women’s Premier League has returned to the cricket arena with a whole new season, the thrills touched new heights since the very first match. While batting first, the Gujarat Giants bowlers put the RCB bowlers on the back foot with their brilliance. But Ashleigh Gardner’s explosive innings grabbed the limelight.
Facing Prema Rawat in the 14th over, she started with a dot ball, then smashed three consecutive sixes, scoring 21 runs and putting immense pressure on the opposition with her fiery hitting.
The GG skipper stormed to a blazing half-century off just 25 balls, continuing to dominate. The RCB bowlers struggled hard to send her back in the pavilion but the Aussie star shined with an explosive unbeaten knock of 79 runs in just 37 deliveries with a whopping strike rate of 213.51.
The Giants Set A Massive Total On The Board
After losing the toss, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana opted to bowl first but the decision backfired as the Giants batters showcased their immense domination while batting first. After Laura Wolvaardt and Dayalan Hemalatha's early dismissal, Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner’s explosive sho stole the show.
Deandra Dottin’s rapid 25 off 13 balls further accelerated the innings. Depending on their powerful performances, Gujarat Giants posted a massive total of 201 runs, leaving RCB struggling to keep up.
