Pakistan's former fast bowler Mohammad Amir opened up on the rivalry with India ahead of the Champions Trophy. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan will face India in their second group-stage match of the Champions Trophy on February 23.

It's worth mentioning that India won't travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, as the BCCI didn't receive the Indian Government's approval for the same. As a result, the Men in Blue will play all their matches at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Amir Expects India, Pakistan To Improve Their Relationship

While the Indian players are set to play their Champions Trophy games in the UAE, Amir stated that they would've loved the hospitality had they come to Pakistan for the tournament.

"I was hopeful that India would come, and Indian team Pakistan aati toh unko maza ata (India would enjoy it too). The players would have enjoyed it a lot, but at the end of the day, players don't have control over these things," Amir was quoted as saying by TOI.

"I really wanted the Indian team to come to Pakistan. As a player, I want Pakistan to go to India and India to come to Pakistan. There are no boundaries in cricket; those who set boundaries, I've always been against that," he added.

Amir Hopeful Of A Magical Performance From Pakistan

Amir also predicted an impressive performance from Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. He reckoned that the hosts would definitely step up to the occasion in the tournament, as they recently secured emphatic wins in Australia and South Africa.

"I have high hopes because Pakistan have recently won both away series. And I think this is a huge achievement for Pakistan, to win in Australia against Australia and then in South Africa against South Africa," Amir concluded.

India and Pakistan are placed in Group A and will take on each other in their second match of the Champions Trophy.
