The Trinbago Knight Riders are playing against the Barbados Royals in the 15th match of the CPL 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Knights have been tasked with chasing down 157 runs after Kieron Pollard put the Royals to bat.

The Knight Riders made a dream start to the match with two wickets in the first over. After this, Quinton de Kock tried to stabilise the Royals' innings but did not last long. His 39 off 21 was an inning that added momentum to the Royals' progress, but they would have been happier with his more significant contribution.

Powell guided the Royals to a fighting total

After de Kock's departure, the Royals struggled to gain momentum in their innings. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were striving to reach a competitive total. However, the team captain, Rovman Powell, decided to show some resilience and put up a fight on the team's behalf.

Powell scored 59 runs off 38 deliveries and guided the team to a fighting total of 156/7 at the end of the 20 overs. In response, the Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine off the first ball. Jason Roy soon followed him. Maheesh Theekshana picked up these two wickets and looked dangerous in the middle of a lethal spell.

The fall of Roy brought Nicholas Pooran into the centre. Pooran is known for his aggressive batting style and his bold attitude at any stage of a game. He displayed the same attitude while facing Maheesh Theekshana in the third over of the innings.

On the fourth delivery, Pooran slammed a boundary. It was a full delivery on the off stump, which was carved away by the southpaw over covers. The next ball was full once again, but his time, Theekshana bowled it slower. Pooran spotted the length and the change of pace early and got down on one knee to slam the ball away over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum.

Immediately after the maximum, rain interrupted the proceedings for 10-15 minutes. But Pooran's confidence from those two shots might help him play a match-winning knock in this game.
