In their T20I encounter, the Ireland Women's cricket team completed a clean sweep, winning the series 3-0 against Bangladesh Women. The Irish team has dominated Bangladesh throughout the series, and the clean sweep only added salt to Bangladesh's wounds.

In the final T20I match played on December 9, Laura Delany delivered an impressive performance, attacking Shorna Akter with consecutive boundaries to secure a thrilling win in the last over.

Delany Delivers In Style

Choosing to bowl first at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Ireland Women restricted Bangladesh to a modest total of 123 runs in 20 overs. During the chase, Ireland found themselves in trouble, losing 4 wickets for just 70 runs at the end of 11.3 overs, with the top-order batters dismissed early. However, Delany stepped up, scoring a commendable 36 runs off 31 balls to guide her team to victory in a closely contested match.

In the final over, Ireland needed 15 runs to win, with Shorna Akter, a reliable bowler for Bangladesh, tasked with defending the target. After a few runs and a wicket, Delany was on strike when Ireland required 12 runs off the final 4 balls.

Showcasing her determination, Delany hit Akter for three consecutive boundaries with aggressive strokes as she stepped out of the crease to seal the series sweep for Ireland.

Delany Named Player Of The Match, Orla Bags Player Of The Series

Delany was named the player of the match, but contributions from Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast should not be overlooked. Amy provided a solid start to Ireland's innings, while Orla, the Player of the Series, took 4 crucial wickets that toppled Bangladesh's middle order.

For Bangladesh, Rabeya Khan stood out with two wickets, while Sobhana Mostary (45) and Sharmin Akhter (34) contributed significantly with the bat, which led to the competitive last-over thriller.
