In the much-anticipated clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), known as the "IPL Clasico" records are already being shattered. The first one of the day was broken when Coetzee dismissed Rahane, who unexpectedly opened the innings for CSK instead of Gaikwad.

The sound levels at Wankhede Stadium crowd peaked at 131 dB, which is the highest of the season beating Chepauk's 130 dB when Dhoni came to field before toss.

IPL's official broadcaster Star Sports has been meticulously tracking crowd decibel levels since the beginning of this season, with MS Dhoni and Chepauk consistently dominating the records.

However, during Rahane's dismissal by MI bowler Coetzee, Wankhede Stadium erupted, marking a great 131 dB—the first instance of a non-MSD, non-CSK-related moment topping the charts.

The presence of MS Dhoni adds to the excitement, as CSK enjoys widespread backing, even at Wankhede.

Why Rahane opened at Wankhede instead of Gaikwad

Gaikwad, the skipper and usual opener for CSK, did not open the innings against MI, Rahane was CSK's choice to open

There could be several reasons for this decision. Firstly, Rahane's familiarity and past success at Wankhede Stadium, his home ground, might have influenced the decision.

Rahane has played outstanding innings at this venue in the past, including a match-winning fifty against MI last season.

Additionally, Gaikwad may have been struggling to find his usual form, and in a high-pressure game against MI, he might not have wanted to take unnecessary risks.
