Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli has reached another special milestone in the IPL. During match 65 of IPL 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Kohli scored a rapid 43 runs to become a part of the 800-run club against SRH.

Amid substantial rainfall in Bengaluru, the RCB-SRH clash was moved to Lucknow. Batting first, Sunrisers posted a mammoth total of 231 runs on the board, courtesy of Ishan Kishan’s 94 off 48 balls.

However, in the chase, openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli kept RCB in the hunt with an 80-run opening partnership.

In the second inning, Virat Kohli and Phil Salt displayed aggressive intent in pursuit of a 232-run target. The former RCB captain, Kohli, maximised the powerplay conditions, hitting 43 off 25 balls with 7 fours, a six, and a 172.00 strike rate.

In his swift inning, Kohli became only the second batter in IPL history to score over 800 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The first player to do so was Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson.

Indeed, Kohli’s performance shows his consistency and dominance against the Hyderabad-based team over the years.

However, Virat was outfoxed by Harsh Dubey. SRH captain Pat Cummins showcased his captaincy brilliance by introducing Dubey right after the powerplay as Virat Kohli has a known weakness against left-arm spin.

Kohli, cruising at 43 off 25 balls, was undone by Dubey’s clever bowling. With 17 dismissals and a modest 116 strike rate vs left-arm spin in IPL, Kohli’s weakness was exploited perfectly, turning the match in SRH’s favour at a key moment.
