The Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its business end and four teams have already qualified for the IPL playoffs. However, despite the four teams being decided, the battle for a top-2 finish is still up for grabs as the RCB took on SRH in the 65th match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday.
During the match, SRH batted first and they took apart the RCB bowling attack with ease. Carnage was everywhere as both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma dealt in sixes and in one moment, Abhishek struck a massive six which broke the glass of the car parked near the boundary line. Normally, the Player of the Tournament gets the car as a prize and Abhishek broke the glass.
Why Abhishek has to pay hefty fine?
Interestingly, the SRH batter will now have to pay a hefty fine for breaking the glass and the reason for it is actually surprising. As per India Herald, Before the tournament started, it was announced by TATA Motors that any player who breaks the car glass will have to donate Cricket kits worth INR 5 lakh for Rural Cricket development.
TATA is the official sponsor of the IPL and this is an initiative taken by the brand to help promote the game and develop it in rural areas. Another instance of this occurred during the LSG Vs SRH match when Mitch Marsh broke the glass and had to pay the fine.
SRH dominating Vs RCB
Put into bat first, SRH batters, particularly Abhishek Sharma dominated the proceedings. He initiated the aggressive intent and slammed a quick-fire 34 off 17 balls and laid a strong foundation for a big total as the mantle was carried forward by Ishan Kishan who is etching closer to his century.
