Widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines on Wednesday in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025/26. However, he failed to last long, as Sandeep Sharma, his Rajasthan Royals (RR) mate, made sure to trap him leg before during the Bihar versus Chandigarh fixture at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

The 14-year-old, who was all in the news during the IPL 2025, was in superb form during the recently-concluded Asia Cup Rising Stars for India A. He carried on the momentum while vice-captaining Bihar, smashing sixes after sixes to kick off the proceedings before losing his wicket to Sandeep for a quickfire 4-ball 14.

Having made 252 runs across seven innings in IPL 2025, that too at over the strike rate of 206, Suryavanshi, 13 then, showed the world what he could bring to the table under the leadership of Sanju Samson. His ultra-aggressive approach did not change after the tournament’s completion, and fans thoroughly enjoyed it when it continued during the Asia Cup Rising Stars.

Exciting times ahead for Suryavanshi

Even though Suryavanshi lasted only four balls this time, attention will be on him throughout the SMAT, which ends on December 18. No wonder RR made sure of his presence in the upcoming IPL edition at their den, while Samson has been traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for IPL 2026.

At the time of writing this, Bihar are 66/1 after 5.5 overs, with captain Sakibul Gani batting on 28* off 17 balls alongside wicket-keeper Ayush Loharuka, who is on 25* off 15 balls with two fours and two sixes.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Sharma, despite the Suryavanshi wicket, conceded 28 runs off his first two overs.
