On Friday, November 21, India A ended their Asia Cup Rising Stars campaign on a disappointing note after a defeat against Bangladesh A in the super-over. Eyes were on the Jitesh Sharma-led side to beat The Tigers in the semi-finals, but things didn't turn out as planned, as the Rising Men in Blue are at the helm of criticism.

It has been an underwhelming tournament for India, as they also lost to Pakistan and drew criticism after questionable decisions in the super-four match against Bangladesh. Furthermore, the tournament was closely followed by IPL teams, and there were numerous key takeaways for the franchises from the India A Asia Cup Rising Stars.

Jitesh Sharma a poor captaincy choice

The recently concluded campaign for India A has confirmed that Jitesh cannot be a leadership option for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Notably, in IPL 2025, Jitesh got to lead the defending champions for a few games last season in Patidar's absence, but his captaincy in the Asia Cup has turned out to be questionable.

Firstly, India went into a super over with Bangladesh and the fans were shocked to see Vaibhav Suryavanshi not padded up, rather Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma doing the Super over duties.

Also, the decision to bowl the 19th over with Naman Dhir against Bangladesh proved to be costly as the right-arm spinner leaked 28 runs that turned the course of the game.

Thus, several questionable changes and decisions throughout the tournament have made it clear that Jitesh lacks what it takes to be a captain.

Punjab Kings' Indian core struggling for form

The tournament has not been good for the Punjab Kings' Indian core as Priyansh Arya, who rose to fame in IPL 2025, has scored just 74 runs in four innings.

Meanwhile, Nehal Wadhera hasn't done well and scored just 77 runs in four innings, averaging 25.67. On top of it, Suryansh Shedge didn't get a solitary chance to showcase his talent.

In the bowling department, Vyshak Vijaykumar got a chance in two matches and picked up a solitary wicket. On top of it, he bowled with an economy of 10.63.

DC and KKR finishers struggle in the Asia Cup

KKR and Delhi Capitals are sweating hard in panic as their finishers, Ramandeep Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, are not among the runs for the Asia Cup. Ramandeep has amassed just 34 runs in three innings, while Ashutosh has been no good and collected 13 runs in two innings.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is shining like a boss

Rajasthan Royals are the happiest franchise after the Asia Cup because Vaibhav Suryavanshi is on a roll and was India's best striker of the ball. Notably, he amassed 239 runs in four innings, averaging 59.75.

Now with Sanju Samson gone, Suryavanshi will be RR's top-opening choice and performing in the Asia Cup will be a great boost for him.

CSK get a pacer delight

Out of the blue, Chennai Super Kings have got a great option in Gurjapneet Singh as the 27-year-old has picked up seven wickets in four innings and justified CSK's decision to retain him for IPL 2026.

Notably, Gurjapneet struggled with injury for IPL 2025 and was removed from the team and replaced by Dewald Brevis for the remainder of the season.
