West Indies: 185/6 (35.1) [Alick Athanaze 65(45), Shamarh Brooks 39 (58); Aayan Afzal Khan 2/40 (10), Muhammad Jawadullah- 2/36 (5.1)] beat UAE: 184-10 in 36.1 overs [Vriitya Aravind 70(75), Muhammad Waseem 42 (34); Kevin Sinclair- 4/24 (7.1), Yannic Cariah- 2/34 (8)] by four wickets.

Continuing their dominant form, the West Indies secured a comprehensive victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Third ODI, triumphing by four wickets. This resounding win allowed them to complete a clean sweep of the three-match ODI series, concluding with a 3-0 margin of triumph. The pulsating encounter took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on June 9.

Vriitya Aravind Stood Valiantly, a Lone Warrior in the Fight

Batting first, UAE encountered a challenging beginning as Lovepreet Singh Bajwa departed for a meager 3 runs in the third over. However, the indomitable duo of skipper Muhammad Waseem and Vriitya Aravind emerged, weaving a formidable partnership while fearlessly confronting the West Indies' bowling attack. With remarkable swiftness, they amassed 80 runs during the powerplay, with just a solitary wicket lost.

During their reign of dominance, Waseem and Aravind exhibited unparalleled mastery against the spinners. Yet, the tides shifted when Windies' captain Roston Chase, accompanied by the skilled off-spinner Kevin Sinclair, took center stage. Their impeccable efficiency led to rapid overs, leaving UAE's batsmen with scarce opportunities to score freely.

As Waseem propelled towards a magnificent half-century, fate intervened as Raymon Reifer dismissed him, cruelly terminating his journey a mere 8 runs shy of the milestone. Nevertheless, Aravind continued his poised innings alongside the resilient Rameez Shahzad, culminating in his well-deserved fifty. Regrettably, Kevin Sinclair showcased his prowess in his very first over, instigating two untimely run-outs that further impeded UAE's progress.

Following Shahzad's departure, UAE faced a tumultuous collapse, relinquishing 8 wickets for a meager 42 runs, culminating in their ultimate dismissal for a total of 184 runs.

Shining brightly on the bowling front was the remarkable Kevin Sinclair, who exhibited a masterclass performance, claiming an impressive tally of 4 wickets within a mere 7.1 overs.

In pursuit of a modest target of 185, the debutant Alick Athanaze mesmerized with his batting prowess, igniting the West Indies' chase in a breathtaking manner. From the outset, the left-hander displayed his aggressive intent, piercing boundaries during the powerplay with an array of captivating strokes. Regrettably, Johnson Charles succumbed early, victimized by the impressive Muhammad Jawad Ullah, who executed a magnificent nip-backer to claim his maiden ODI wicket.

Joined by the resolute Shamarh Brooks, Athanaze continued his assault, combining power and finesse to construct a remarkable innings. His blazing display culminated in a joint-fastest half-century on an ODI debut, a testament to his prodigious talent. Together, Athanaze and Brooks forged a vital partnership, adding 66 precious runs for the second wicket.

Undeterred, Brooks, the adept right-handed batsman, assumed the role of the anchor, amassing 39 runs from 58 deliveries before succumbing in the deep. The UAE spinners posed a formidable challenge during the middle overs, triggering the swift departures of Keacy Carty (20 runs from 31 deliveries) and Kavem Hodge (0 runs from 1 delivery).

Nevertheless, stand-in captain Roston Chase, exemplifying composure, marshaled his team with an unbeaten 27 runs from 32 deliveries, while Raymon Reifer (15 runs from 30 deliveries) provided valuable support. Their collective resilience guided the visitors to a resounding victory.
