Cricket has never been short of strange dismissals, with players finding themselves undone in the most unthinkable of ways. From freak run-outs to unusual handling of the ball, the game often produces moments that leave fans and players alike baffled.
In one such instance during the 2023 World Cup, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan appealed for Angelo Mathews’ timed out dismissal, sparking widespread debate across the cricketing fraternity. A similar rarity unfolded in the ongoing Kerala Cricket League T20 2025 season, where a Kochi Blue Tigers batter found himself at the center of the bizarre exit.
Alfi Francis Timed Out By Calicut Globstars
In the second semifinal of the Kerala Cricket League T20 2025 season, Kochi Blue Tigers all-rounder Alfi Francis got timed-out without facing a ball. Batting at number seven and arriving to the middle at 110-5 in 14.5 overs following the dismissal of KN Ajeesh, Francis was found coming late into the crease, prompting him to walk back towards the sheds after an appeal made by Calicut Globstars players.
Alfi’s dismissal plunged the Kochi Blue Tigers into further trouble considering the 24-year-old holds a blistering T20 batting strike rate of 164 with an average of 25. As the Tigers slipped to 110-6 before the end of the 15th over, a slog-overs cameo from N Mohammed Ashik (31 off 10) and a cunning half-century from number four batter Nikhil Thottath (64* off 36) eventually catapulted them to a competitive 186-8 in 20 overs.
Earlier in the match, Kochi Blue Tigers opener Vipul Shakti made 37 in 28 balls with five boundaries. Captain Saly Samson, brother of dynamic Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
