Northern Superchargers Women outplayed Birmingham Phoenix Women in Thursday’s match of Women's Hundred, thanks to some stellar performances, most notably a breathtaking catch by Georgia Wareham.

Wareham's exceptional catch stole the show

The standout moment occurred on the 46th ball of the innings when Erin Burns of Birmingham Phoenix attempted to slog Georgia Wareham for a big hit. Burns, stepping out of her crease, failed to get underneath the shot, lacking the necessary elevation, and the ball was fiercely hit and travelling fast.

Wareham showed remarkable reflexes and skill by catching the ball with both hands, dismissing Burns for a mere three runs. The stunning catch left spectators in absolute awe.

This sensational catch led to a catastrophic collapse in Birmingham Phoenix's batting line-up, with the team tumbling from 56/2 to a modest 110/8 in their quota of 100 balls. David Richardson stood out for Birmingham Phoenix Women, delivering a frugal spell and taking three key wickets for just 20 runs in her allocated 20 balls.

In response, Northern Superchargers Women approached the chase with confidence and precision, spurred on by a stunning 42 off 29 balls by Phoebe Litchfield.

Supporting cameos from openers Marie Kelly and Jemimah Rodrigues helped the team cross the line with an emphatic 22 balls to spare. Issie Wong, Katie Levick, and Hannah Baker each chipped in with a wicket for Birmingham Phoenix.

With this victory, Northern Superchargers Women have started their campaign this season with a win and are currently at the top of the table courtesy of their superior run rate. They will next take on Southern Brave Women on Sunday, August 6, at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
