Amidst post-Ashes scrutiny, veteran England fast bowler James Anderson remains steadfast in his aspiration to travel India next year for the five-match Test series.

While speculation mounted about Anderson's potential retirement in the recently concluded Ashes series, it was Stuart Broad who surprised observers by announcing his retirement even after emerging as the second-highest wicket-taker with 22 scalps. In contrast, Anderson struggled, securing only five wickets in as many games, igniting discussions about the 41-year-old's future.

“For me, I just want to take a couple of months off now. In the chats I have had with England, I have said I have not contributed the way I wanted to in this series on the field but I feel like I have a lot to offer the team going to somewhere like India in the new year,"  wrote James Anderson in his column for the Telegraph.

Widely regarded as one of cricket's all-time greats, Anderson will aim to surpass the coveted 700-wicket milestone when England faces the Rohit Sharma-led Indian Test team.

With 690 wickets from 183 Test matches, Anderson holds the record for the highest number of wickets taken by any pace bowler in the sport's history.

Following the captivating Ashes 2023 series, England's cricket fraternity is turning its gaze towards an imminent five-match Test series against India, scheduled to commence on January 25, 2024. The venues include Hyderabad, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Ranchi, and Dharamshala.

Amidst a treasure trove of talent on both sides, the spotlight will be on the experienced English pacer James Anderson. Despite his subpar showing in Ashes 2023,  Anderson hungers to face India, a team against which he has historically excelled. In 35 Test matches,  Anderson has claimed 139 dismissals. In the subcontinent, he has secured 34 wickets across 13 appearances in India.

However, the destiny of the England legend's inclusion hinges upon the selectors, considering his disappointing performance in the Test series against Australia.
