The latest update from Edgbaston reveals that the 32nd clash of The Hundred 2024 between Birmingham Phoenix Women and Manchester Originals Women has faced a major setback. The play has been halted due to heavy rains.

Since the rain got heavier, the umpires took the stumps off, and the players went off the field. As of 8:40 PM IST, the scenes were not looking promising, as the rain was getting heavier and pelting down in Birmingham. The groundsmen rushed in with more covers to protect the whole square area.

It has been understood that 30 minutes after the rain interruption, the number of balls will decrease, potentially altering the course of the game.

Regrettably, if the rain persists and worsens, the highly anticipated men's clash between Birmingham Phoenix and Manchester Originals could be in jeopardy.

Both teams are out of reckoning for a place in the playoffs and this game is a dead rubber. However, both sides would be keen to finish on a high and play for pride.

Led by Ellyse Perry, Birmingham Phoenix Women are currently in seventh place in the points table, having won three and lost four of their seven games. In contrast, Manchester Originals Women, captained by Sophie Ecclestone, are in sixth place.
