As Rohit Sharma led-India gears up to face off against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series starting on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, some considerable players will likely debut in the much-awaited clash.

As derived from a PTI report, it has been understood that India's premium pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, will miss out on the series to ensure he is fully fit for the upcoming Test series against Australia, a crucial series for India, in November-December.

This means that Gautam Gambhir, with his forward-thinking approach, will be looking to introduce a few fresh faces in the Test set-up, showing the team's confidence in the new talent.

With that in mind, let's take a look at three Indian pacers who could make their Test debut against their neighbours, Bangladesh:

Arshdeep Singh

The 25-year-old left-arm medium-fast bowler, Arshdeep Singh, has been a solid force to reckon with; having played at two World Cups, he was the leading wicket-taker for the Men In Blue.

There is nothing wrong in saying that with his brilliance with the ball, he is the front-runner in making his much-awaited Test Debut soon. If reports are to be believed, ex-head coach Rahul Dravid had a plan for Arshdeep, so he played for Kent in county cricket.

He has played 16 first-class games and picked up 49 wickets with a best figure of 5/48.

Harshit Rana

After having what can best be described as a breakthrough season, Harshit Rana, the diligent Kolkata Knight Riders' pacer, shone as bright as ever with his excellent performance at the Indian Premier League 2024, where he picked up 19 wickets from just 13 games.

Gambhir's faith in him saw him perform exceptionally well, especially in the crucial death overs of the game, where he snatched numerous victories for his franchise.

Because of such phenomenal performances, he received his maiden India call-up for the ODI leg of the India Tour of Sri Lanka. While he did not get a chance to play a single match, it is evident that Gambhir would be keen to utilise his abilities further.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed, who has been a prominent face in the Indian set-up, has made his debut for both white-ball cricket, ODIs, and T20Is.

He will next be eyeing a place in India's team for the red-ball format. Although he has been a little inconsistent, there is no denial of his skills. He can give the batters a massive headache in dire situations.
