Tanush Kotian was called up in the Indian Test side on the Australian tour after the retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin. However, the selectors decided to overlook him for the England series due to the return of Kuldeep Yadav and the presence of Ravindra Jadeja along with Washington Sundar.

The cricketer though has been a consistent performer for Mumbai in the domestic circuit and has shown his prowess both with the bat and ball while playing for India A too. Now, in the second unofficial Test between India A and England Lions, the Mumbai lad has stepped up again with a crucial fifty coming lower down the order in the second innings.
Tanush Kotian came out to bat at number 8 with India A losing Nitish Reddy at a score of 253. It was important for him to bat long and stretch India A lead as much as possible on Day 4. He also looked at as a replacement option for Ravichandran Ashwin because of his handy off-breaks and ability to contribute with the bat.
The batter has lived upto that reputation and even after the wicket of Shardul Thakur, he formed a formidable stand with Anshul Kamboj. The batter mixed caution with aggression beautifully and scored his runs at a good rate, taking India A to a strong position.

Kotian also picked up a crucial wicket of Emilo Gay in England Lions' first innings, showing his utility in the red-ball game. Overall, India A are in a strong position in the second unofficial Test after their pace attack restricted England Lions to 327 in the first innings.
For India A, KL Rahul displayed great form, scoring a century in the first innings and a fifty in the second. Thus, a lot of India A players have stepped up on this English tour and Kotian with this resilient knock in the second innings has surely shown that he is one of the candidates for the future.
