Rajnandgaon Panthers pulled off a solid 21-run win over Raipur Rhinos in Match 6 of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2025 on Monday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. It was not a walk in the park, but the Panthers kept their cool and made sure they stayed ahead of the curve right till the final over.

Desai, Naik Deliver The Goods With The Bat

Batting first after Raipur won the toss and chose to field, Rajnandgaon Panthers put up a competitive total of 168/7 in their 20 overs. The innings had its share of speed bumps, but it was Sanjeet Desai who gave them the momentum with a fiery 59 off just 39 balls, peppered with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Rahul Naik also came in clutch with a quick-fire 34 off 26, while skipper Ajay Mandal chipped in with 11. The lower order added just enough cushion to push the total near the 170-mark, a score that looked defendable with a decent bowling display.

Raipur Rhinos Fall Short Despite Bista’s Resistance

The chase looked promising for Raipur when Amit Kumar Yadav and skipper Amandeep Khare got going. Yadav smashed a brisk 60 off 43 balls, filled with clean strokes and calm intent. Khare too played a steady knock of 43 off 38, and the two stitched together a solid platform.

But the middle order couldn’t keep the momentum going. Once Khare departed in the 16th over, wickets started tumbling like dominoes and the innings just fizzled out. From 126/2, they crashed to 145/6, falling 21 runs short of the target.

Panthers’ Bowlers Finish The job

While it was a team effort with the bat, the Panthers’ bowlers truly came to the party. Aishwarya Mourya was the standout, picking up 2/23 in his 3 overs, including the big wicket of Amit Kumar Yadav. Ajay Mandal and Dev Aditya Singh also kept things tight in the middle overs, and Sumit Ruikar’s economy of 6.00 kept the scoring rate in check.

The fielding unit backed the bowlers well, especially during the death overs where pressure was high and the Rhinos were pushing hard for boundaries.

With this win, Rajnandgaon Panthers grab two crucial points and are at the top of the table with two wins in as many matches. Raipur Rhinos, meanwhile, will be kicking themselves for letting the game slip after being in control for large parts of the chase.
