The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) needed to beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to cement their place in the top 2 of the points table, however, it seems like the home team, LSG have come full prepared ti spoil RCB's fun as the duo of Mitch Marsh and Rishabh Pant took the opponent to the cleaners.

Just like the last match, there was no signs of Rajat Patidar as the captain was included in the Impact Subs list. In his place, Jitesh Sharma was leading the team and the former Punjab Kings batter made quite a few tactical blunders which derailed RCB's momentum at the half-way mark.

1) Giving three straight overs to Nuwan Thushara

Now, Nuwan Thushara, the Sri Lankan pacer who made his RCB debut is a death overs specialist and he should have been the one to take care of the slog overs business for RCB. Instead, the bowler was given three overs inside the power-play by the skipper.

Which meant that Thushara only had a solitary over in the death to give his best and curb the scoring rate. While he did take a wicket of Matthew Breetzke, Thushara should only have been given two overs in the power-play. With him bowling just one over in the death, RCB were left with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal to fill in that role.

2) Not starting with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in Powerplay

For the first. time since the 2015 edition, Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn't take the new ball in an IPL match. What is Bhuvneshwar's speciality? It is his ability to take wickets inside the powerplay. Instead, for some reason, Jitesh started with Yash Dayal.

Bhuvi bowled his first delivery in the 5th over and logically, he should have bowled instead of Yash Dayal.

3) Not trying something different

When Rishabh Pant came out to bat and looked in ominous touch, Jitesh should have brought in Liam Livingstone to counter the lefty. However, the Englishman was nowhere to be seen as even Romario Shepherd got four overs to bowl and the West Indian was taken to the cleaners by Pant and Marsh. Livingstone is someone who can bowl off-spin as well as leg-spin deliveries and he could have been a handy option against the two rampant batters.
