The T20 World Cup 2024 is ageing fine and fast. In the ninth game of the tournament, two ICC associate nations, Papua New Guinea and Uganda, will face off. 

PNG entered the tournament after winning the East Asia Pacific qualifiers. On the other hand, Uganda's dramatic story was that it defeated Zimbabwe to make it from the African qualifiers into this tournament.

The Barramundis have started their campaign against one of the tournament hosts, West Indies. Even though the Assad Vala-led failed to win the game, they put on a brave display on the field with both the bat and the ball. 

Papua New Guinea will hope that their prime players, like Assad Vala, Sese Bau, Charles Amini, and Alei Nao, will step up once again and help them secure their first-ever T20 World Cup win against Uganda.

It was a cinematic scenario for the Ugandans when they defeated Zimbabwe in the African qualifiers final and entered the T20 World Cup 2024. However, in their very first match of the tournament against Afghanistan, the Cranes might have felt the gulf of difference in the quality of cricket at this level. 

The Ugandan team looked mostly clueless in their first match. The only positive for them was the death-over bowling, where they conceded only 27 runs in five overs and picked up four wickets. They will try to work on the other departments and put up a better display against Papua New Guinea in their second outing of the tournament.
