The cat-and-mouse game between rain and play continues at Ahmedabad as the IPL 2023 Final between Chennai and Gujarat has stopped yet again. As soon as the chase begun, a sudden downpour started that forced the players to run off the field and the groundsmen to rush onto it with covers in their hands.
As mentioned earlier, there were rain and thunderstorm forecasts for 9-10 PM; however, the current conditions don't look pleasing as the strong breeze is blowing with robust showers. Having said that, we have two more hours left before losing the overs.
If the game goes towards the unfortunate end, here are DLS's par score for Chennai to win:
CSK's DLS par score at the end of 5th over if no wicket falls: 43
CSK's DLS par score at the end of 5th over if one wicket falls: 48
CSK's DLS par score at the end of 5th over if two wickets fall: 55
Thankfully, the rain has stopped at Motera, with the inspection scheduled for 10:45 PM IST. But the playing conditions aren't looking adequate now, with the groundsmen doing their best to mop up the field.
If the game can't get completed tonight, Gujarat will end up lifting the trophy by virtue of ending higher than Chennai on the points table.
Earlier in the day, GT batters had a blast with the bat after being put into bat. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha gave the team a blistering start before Ravindra Jadeja removed Gill to end his tournament with the bat with 851 runs in the season.
Nevertheless, Saha found an even better partner for the day in young Sai Sudharsan - who just had the best game of his entire career, slamming one of the season's best teams with an enthralling 96 that came at a rapid rate.
The Titans ended with 214/4, the highest ever scored by any team in an IPL final.
Ruturaj Gaikwad got off the mark with a glorious drive on the third delivery of the chase before rain started bucketing down.
