Steve Smith has once again put in show his brilliance in Test cricket. He has scored a great century on the second day of the Boxing Day Test in MCG. 

This was the 34th test century for the modern great of Australian cricket. With this century he has equalled Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara and Mahela Jayawardene in the total number for Test centuries.

Besides this, Smith has also reached the summit of an elite list that contains names like Joe Root, Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Garfield Sobers. Steve Smith has now 11 Test centuries against India, which is the most by any player against them.

So far, Steve Smith has played 23 Test matches against India and has scored 2,305 runs in them at an average of 64.02. The Australian master has scored 11 centuries and five half-centuries against the Asian team.

When it comes to the most runs scored by a player against India in Tests, Steve Smith is at the fifth position. That list is topped by Joe Root.

Notably, the effort by Steve Smith has put the Australians in a position where the dictate the terms in this game. The home team will now be looking to take the total past the 500 mark and put the Indian team under pressure.
