India and Australia are contesting hard on the second day of the fourth Test match in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The home team is gradually edging ahead by showing their forever tough mentality and gutsy attitude.

The home team won the toss in the game and opted to bat first. The debutant Sam Konstas put Australia ahead in the first session of the match by batting aggressively and taking down even the best bowler of the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah.

Even after the departure of Sam Konstas, Australia did not lose its grip on the game. The partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja got them going and kept their grip on the match. Even though Jasprit Bumrah brought his team back into the game with a magical spell, Australia had negated that by the end of the day with their gutsy batting.

At the start of Day 2, Steve Smith was seen going about his business in his usual way. Though Jasprit Bumrah beat him several times, the Australian maestro looked fazed by it. He continued to concentrate and propel the home team towards a position of strength. 

However, a particular exchange between Bumrah and Smith caught the attention of cricket fans. During the 91st over of the innings, Jasprit Bumrah beat Smith twice on the outside edge with two brilliant deliveries. After getting beaten the second, Smith showed thumbs up to Jasprit Bumrah and commented, 'Nice Ball Jassi, Nice Ball'. It was a fulfilling moment as one of the modern greats of batting acknowledged the skills of modern greats in bowling.
