India and Australia are currently playing in the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The match is heating up as a contest on the second day of the game at the iconic MCG in Austraralia.

Notably, the home team won the toss and opted to bat first after winning the toss in the game. It was the debutant Sam Konstas who batted brilliantly during the first session of the match and put the Aussies on the driver's seat very early.

The position of the Australian team was further strengthened by the partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja. Even though a brilliant spell from Bumrah bought India back into the game, it was not enough to put them in charge. 

Steve Smith stood tall and ensured that Australia suffered no slip-ups and continued on their path to dominate the game. The fact that India had picked up six wickets on Day 1 might have led the viewers think that they would be able to restrict the home team belowe 400 on the second day.

Adam Gilchrist Rubbishes Rohit Sharma's Captaincy On Air

With a chance to take the advantage in the game open, it was expected that Rohit Sharma will come out with an aggressive attitude and try to get down with the Australian tail as soon as possible. However, quite contrary to this, Sharma was seen positioning a deep point fielder even for Pat Cummins in an attempt to stop runs. 


This defensive captaincy by Rohit did not at all impress Adam Gilchrist. The Australian legend was seen criticsing the tactics of the Indian skipper on air. He spoke about the control India showed in the first Test of the series under the leadershi of Jasprit Bumrah. The fact that the team looked completely different and had the spirit to win in them under Bumrah's captaincy was pointed out by the legendary Australian wicketkeeper.
