Australia's stand-in skipper and legendary Test batter, Steve Smith had a momentous Day 1 at Galle International Cricket Stadium. The first Test match between Australia and Sri Lanka, saw Smith complete 10,000 Test runs and later on slam a century. 

Smith's ton alongside Usman Khawaja's century helped Australia dominate on the very first day of the Test match. His record-shattering ton allowed him to enter another list by surpassing his fellow Fab four star, Kane Williamson.

Among active players in international cricket, Virat Kohli leads with 81 hundreds. Joe Root follows with 52 centuries, while Rohit Sharma has 48. Steve Smith has now entered the list and is close behind with 47 centuries after surpassing Kane Williamson, who has scored 46.

Steve Smith did it again, in. the 78th over, he called for three runs as he stood at 97. With the help of which he reached his 35th Test century and 47th international ton for Australia. The moment came as Smith, faced a back-of-a-length delivery around fourth stump, he rocked back and punched it through the covers, completing the third run with ease. 


The crowd erupted in applause as Smith raises his bat in acknowledgment, soaking in the moment. His teammate Usman Khawaja, was quick to congratulate him with a warm hug.
