Abhishek Sharma Joins Urvil Patel; Equals Record for Fastest T20 Ton
The right-handed batter scored 100 runs in just 28 balls and thereby became the joint-fastest Indian alongside Urvil Patel to score a T20 century. He achieved this feat during a domestic match where he registered 11 maximums and helped Punjab chase down the target of 143 runs in the 10th over.
Interestingly, prior to this year's edition, the record for the fastest century in India’s domestic T20 was held by Rishabh Pant, who smashed a 32-ball hundred against Himachal Pradesh in 2018.
Abhishek Dethrones Suryakumar Yadav In A Unique Feat
Abhishek Sharma broke the record for most T20 sixes by an Indian in a calendar year, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav's mark of 85 sixes in 2022. Abhishek achieved this feat after smashing 11 sixes in a stunning knock, leading Punjab to chase their target in 9.3 overs with seven wickets to spare. Left-hander now dethroned Suryakumar, who hit 85 sixes in just 41 innings, having hit his 86th six in just 38 innings.
