The first ODI between India Women and Australia Women of the ongoing series at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane got off to a rough start for the visiting team after they won the toss and chose to bat first. India lost their opening batsman Smriti Mandhana early, as she was dismissed for just 8 runs by Megan Schutt. Things got worse when Priya Punia was out for 3 off 17 balls, also against Schutt.

Despite the early setbacks, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur came in to steady the ship alongside Harleen Deol. They tried to build a partnership, but the pressure was mounting after the quick loss of two wickets.

The right-handed batter was dismissed in the 18th over by Australian young pacer Annabel Sutherland, who bowled an inswinging delivery that hit her pad after missing the inside edge. The umpire ruled it out, with the ball likely hitting the leg stump.
