Kolkata Knight Riders' batting woes continued in the ongoing IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was the Marco Jansen's double strike that pushed them on the back-foot at the end of the power-play.

Having won the toss, Nitish Rana had no hesitation in electing to bat first, and that back-fired as SRH seamers - Marco Jansen and Kartik Tyagi rattled their batters with pace and bounce.

It all started with the wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who thought of unsettling Jansen, but eventually threw his wicket away. The Afghan batter stepped down the track to attack the SRH seamer, but got a top-edge as Harry Brook took a simple catch.

Perhaps the next wicket of Venkatesh Iyer was a dream delivery for any pacer. Jansen used his height to generate extra bounce and it took Iyer by surprise, as he got an edge on his attempted pull shot and the keeper made no mistake with it.. The ball came in quickly and Iyer had little time to react, as Jansen’s twin strike had KKR batters reeling on the back-foot.

Jason Roy did struck a couple of boundaries to ease up the pressure, but perhaps the pressure of scoreboard took a toll as he went for an unnecessary hoick and missed the connection as the ball was caught at backward point. Roy eventually departed for 20.

At the time of writing, KKR are struggling at 54 for 3, and looking for a solid partnership.
