Legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag reacted on the latest installment of scuffle between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, urging both stars to tone down their temper on-field.

Kohli and Gambhir have a history of flare-ups, and it reached its crescendo this past week during LSG V RCB at the Ekana Stadium following a heated exchange between the former and Afghanistan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Reacting to the brawl, Sehwag said that both Gambhir and Kohli are icons of this country and their aggressive on-field behavior won't reflect well on young kids.

The former opener also revealed that he only came to know about the incident the next morning via social media.

“I switched off the TV once the match got over. I had no idea about what happened after the match. The next day when I woke up, I saw a lot of chaos on social media. What happened wasn’t right. The loser should quietly accept defeat and walk away and the winning team should celebrate. Why did they need to say anything to each other," Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

"I always say one thing, that these guys are icons of the country. If they do or say anything, millions of kids follow them and probably think ‘If my icon has done this, I would too’. So if they keep these things in mind, they would limit such incidents," he added.

Both Kohli and Gambhir were reprimanded for their actions by the BCCI, and Sehwag has further urged the governing body to place stringent sanctions if any player breaches the threshold of what is acceptable.
