The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has been a mixed bag for Rohit Sharma, who leads Mumbai Indians (MI). While Mumbai are placed sixth in the points table, Sharma's form with the bat has struggled, especially in his last three outings, where he has scored 2,3 and 0.

However, former Australian coach and player Tom Moody explained that Sharma brings more to the table than just batting expertise. According to Moody, people must show more patience with the Indian captain, who has won five IPL titles leading MI.

So far in IPL 2023, the 35-year-old has scored 184 runs at an average of 20.44, which is well below his standards.

Here's what Moody said

"The next one is Rohit Sharma. When you have batting depth of quality, that MI have, you can be patient with someone like Rohit Sharma because of the value that he brings to the table as captain. You look at the value that MS Dhoni has had for CSK. He has only had a couple of impacts with the bat and that’s purely because he is sitting back in the batting order,

"There is more to Rohit Sharma than the batsman. It’s the leader, it’s the calm and successful mind. He is a multiple championship-winning captain."

Last evening, chasing 215 against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sharma scored a three-ball duck, where Tim David, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav got MI over the line in a memorable win.

Mumbai will take on Chennai Super Kings on Saturday in a high-octane clash in Chennai.
