There was a time when India spinner, Kuldeep Yadav was at the top of the world and garnered applause from across the world for his tricks with the ball.

He was India's main man in the spin department alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, but that all changed when he faced Moeen Ali in an IPL game in 2019.

It was the 2019 IPL season and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens. The world witnessed Virat Kohli special, as he slammed his fifth IPL century, but the limelight was hogged by his teammate, Moeen Ali, who took a special liking towards Kuldeep Yadav.

It was an off-day for Kuldeep and Moeen took full advantage of it, hammering him for 27 runs in a single over, which propelled RCB to cross the 200-run mark.

That single over bowled to Moeen changed Kuldeep's life as he witnessed a dip in his confidence and was never the same after that.

Recently in a conversation with Gaurav Kapur at the Breakfast With Champions, Kuldeep stated that before that over, he was never hit that badly and it shattered his confidence as he reckoned no batter had the ability to take him to the cleaners.

"I had never faced such a situation, when a batsman had scored 25-26 runs against me. I wondered, what happened? how did it happened? how can they hit so many runs?. Earlier I underestimated everyone, I had this habit."

He added: "I believed no left-hander can hit me. I though the game has ended because of me. The score was 115 inside 15 overs, and then in 16 overs it was almost 140. I gave away 50 runs in the match and wad distraught after that. I got a call from Rohit Sharma, he stated that it's okay, it happens in T20 cricket, but I felt I lost some of the will to play after that."

Post the incident, Kuldeep had a dip in form, and had a low morale, but the spinner bounced back once he was drafted to the Delhi Capitals team in 2022.
