A sensational batting performance followed by a clinical bowling effort helped South Africa outfox the Men in Blue by 49 runs in the third match to finish the series on a high on Tuesday, October 4 at Indore.

Rilee Rossouw's century and Quinton de Kock's flamboyant half-century helped South Africa post a mammoth 227/3 after being asked to bat first. In reply, Team India was bowled-out for 178 runs in 18.3 overs.

South Africa Bowlers Wreaked Havoc

Chasing the stiff target of 228 runs, the hosts lost the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer early before the wicket-keeping duo of Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik took the batting charge and added a partnership worth 41 runs.

While Pant played a blitzkrieg knock of 27 runs off 14 balls, Dinesh Karthik clobbered 46 runs from just 21 balls. However, once the duo got perished in a difference of one over courtesy of some brilliant bowling from Proteas, it was all over for the hosts.

Though Deepak Chahar (17-ball 31) and Umesh Yadav (20* off 17) gave a tough fight back to the visitors at the backend, it was only to reduce the margin of the loss as a team bundled out for 178 runs in 18.3 overs.

On bowling front, Dwaine Pretorius bagged a three-wicket haul while the likes of Wayne Parnell (2/41), Lungi Ngidi (2/51), Keshav Maharaj (2/34) got two wickets each.

The right-arm quick Kagiso Rabada was their most economical bowler, having conceded just 24 runs in his four overs' spell while picking a wicket as well.

Rilee Rossouw Made Mockery of India's Bowling Attack

Earlier, South Africa rode on Rilee Rossouw's unbeaten hundred and Quinton de Kock's half-century to post a humongous total of 227 runs for the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

While Quinton de Kock set the stage on fire with a belligerent knock of 68 runs from 43 balls, it was Rilee Rossouw's calculated batting onslaught — an unbeaten 100 off just 48 balls — that took South Africa to a mammoth total after being put into bat.

Tristan Stubbs also chipped in with 23 runs off 18 balls while it was David Miller, the last match centurion, who provided a further injection of momentum at the backend, smacking 19 runs off just five balls, including three back-to-back sixes to Deepak Chahar.

For India, it was just a case of bowlers having a bad day in the office. All of them except senior spinner R Ashwin were taken to the cleaners by the visitors. Though Deepak Chahar and Umesh Yadav got one wicket each, they went on to concede runs at an economy of above 11.
