On Sunday, May 18, Punjab Kings locked horns against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium for IPL 2025 match 59. Sanju Samson has returned to lead the side as he has recovered from his injury courtesy of the week-long break.

In the ongoing match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, the visitors won the toss and opted to bat first. Both teams made a couple of changes as Mitchell Owen makes his IPL debut. Talking about debut, Rajasthan Royals have also included Proteas Prodigy Kwena Maphaka in the playing XI, who will be making his RR debut.

Who Is Kwena Maphaka Making His RR Debut?

The 19-year-old prodigy from South Africa is making the news as he has been brought in place of Jofra Archer, who will not be returning to India because of an injury. Notably, the England seamer contributed heavily to RR's success this season. Talking about stats, Archer has taken 11 wickets in 12 innings in this season.

Talking about Kwena, he has played just 2 matches in IPL history and that too for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. The left-arm seamer has just a solitary wicket to his name and that too of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

He will be playing his first match of the season and he has grown exponentially in the past year. Notably, Maphaka has featured in all three formats for South Africa and looking at his stats, he has 11 wickets in 8 matches across all formats.

Alongside Maphaka, the other overseas stars for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing match are Shimron Hetmyer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
