In the ongoing first ODI between India women and Ireland women at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat, India's star batter Smriti Mandhana has entered the history books with her heroics with the bat. 

The visitors won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first. India, batting first, rode on Mandhana's 41-run knock. While she missed out on a well-deserving fifty, Madhana scripted the record for becoming the fastest women's cricketer to reach 4000 ODI runs. 

It is worth noting that Mandhana took just 95 innings to reach this milestone. She went past former India captain Mithali Raj to this prestigious feat. She is also the first Indian women batter to reach this feat in less than 100 innings, as Raj took more than 100 innings. 

Overall, Smriti is the third fastest woman behind Belinda Clark and Meg Lanning to reach 4000 ODI runs.

Smriti Mandhana Had A Brilliant 2024

Notably, Mandhana registered her best year with the bat since her debut as she amassed 747 runs in 13 innings, which featured four centuries and three fifties. She averaged 57 and also has been nominated for Women's ODI cricketer of the year award.
