The IPL 2025 is less than three months away, and the preparations are in full swing. Every franchise did its part and tried to build the perfect squad for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, there are a few players who rose to fame after the mega-auction because of their T20 heroics, and now the fans want them to be a part of IPL 2025.

One such player is Sam Konstas, who took the world by storm after he took on Jasprit Bumrah in the MCG Test. Konstas brought out the ramp shot and bashed Bumrah across the park. Further, Konstas also smashed the fastest fifty on his BBL debut by a Sydney Thunder batter. 

The fans are excited to see more of Konstas and want him to be part of IPL 2025. But can Konstas play IPL 2025? What Do The Rules Suggest? 

IPL 2025 Replacement Rules Explained

It is worth noting that Konstas cannot play in IPL 2025 as he wasn't a part of the IPL 2025 players list for the auction. According to IPL's rules and regulations for replacement, any player who is a part of the auction list can only be named as a replacement. 

The replacements can only be the players who registered for the preceding IPL Auction and went unsold. No player outside the auction pool can join any franchise as a replacement. Also, if the team does not have any spots for overseas players, they will not be able to sign an overseas replacement for an Indian player.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Konstas had not registered for IPL 2025 auction, Thus, no franchise would be allowed to sign Sam as a replacement in case of any injury.
