Quite a few Indian international players were in action during Round 4 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2025, as fans witnessed some brilliant T20 cricket across the 19 games on December 2. With the Indian Premier League auction closing in, players are looking to go beyond their limits and impress the scouts from the franchises.
With Hardik Pandya returning and several others scoring tons, here's how the SMAT Round 4 panned out.
Sarfaraz and Shardul run over Assam in an emphatic win
Batting first against the Riyan Parag-led Assam, Mumbai lost Ayush Mhatre's wicket for 21(15), when Sarfaraz Khan came in at 3 after missing the initial matches of the tournament. Batting throughout the innings, he scored a 100*(47) with 8 fours and 7 sixes to his name. Ajinkya Rahane got 32(33), while Suryakumar Yadav scored 20(12).
In response, Parag was dismissed for a two-ball duck and captain Shardul Thakur got rid of 5 of the top-6 batters and finished with 5/23 (3) as they won by 98 runs.
Padikkal's ton stages a 145-run win over Tamil Nadu
Batting first against Tamil Nadu in a southern derby, B R Sharath got 53(23), before Devdutt Padikkal went berserk against Varun Chakravarthy's TN, scoring 102*(46) with 10 fours and six sixes. R Smaran scored 46*(29) and Mayank Agarwal got 24(15). On the other hand, Varun conceded 0/47 off his four, alongside 54 off T Natarajan. Shreyas Gopal's 3/21 (3) and Pravin Dubey's 3/15 (2.2) led them to dismantle TN for just 100.
Hardik Pandya announces his comeback in style
Days after breaching the 300-run mark, Punjab once again scored 222 in their 20 overs, led by Abhishek Sharma's 50(19) and Anmolpreet Singh's 59(32), but the target was comfortably chased by Saurashtra, with 7 wickets left. The top 3 of Vishnu Solanki, Shashwat Rawat and Shivalik Sharma gave them a good start, followed by a vintage Hardik Pandya knock of 77*(42) with 7 fours and 4 sixes to complete the run-chase. Jitesh Sharma remained 6*(4) as the match finished in 19.1 overs.
Shaw's blistering 66 overshadows Suryavanshi's ton
Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to shine in his young career with a 108*(61) after a slow start to the tournament. He guided his team to 176 in 20 overs, which was chased by Maharashtra after a blazing start from captain Prithvi Shaw, who got 66(30) with 11 fours and a six. Maharashtra chased the target in 19.1 overs, with 3 wickets in hand.
Samson fails to create an impact as Yash Thakur's five-fer takes Vidarbha through
Batting first against Vidarbha, Sanju Samson only managed 1(4), skying Nachiket Bhute's length delivery to Dhruv Shorey. Rohan Kunnummal and Vishnu Vinod scored 58 and 65, respectively, while Punjab Kings pacer Yash Thakur scalped 5/16 (3.2) as Kerala was bowled out for 164. Adhyayan Daga got 3/22 (4), Bhute got 2/18 (3), and captain Harsh Dubey went wicketless in his 2 overs, conceding 19.
