The second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at SSC, Colombo is turning out to be a nightmare for Lankans as Pakistan continue to pile up truckloads of runs in response to Sri Lanka's below par 166 in the first innings. Their batters are scoring big runs and now, Abdullah Shafique, the right-handed opener has slammed a double century at a healthy strike rate of 62.1 to stamp his authority in this second Test. This is Shafique's first double century in Test cricket and he is turning out to be a great find for Pakistan with a career average of over 52.

This is Shafique's second big knock in Sri Lanka and on the last tour to the island in 2022, he smashed an unbeaten 160 in the Galle Test. Abdullah Shafique is known for his astute footwork and what stands out is his ability to tackle pace and spin with equal ease. He also mixed caution with a aggression nicely in this marathon knock and has stayed true to Pakistan's new found positive approach in Test cricket.

Talking about the match, Pakistan are in a pole position with 444 runs on the board and only four wickets down. The lead is 278 which has put Sri Lanka in a big hole now.  Saud Shakeel also scored a double century for Pakistan in the first Test and Pakistan cricket seems to be going in right direction with youngsters taking responsibility to score big runs.
