SL vs AFG: Match Previews

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka dominated in the series opener from the get-go, piling on 381 runs with the bat and losing only three wickets in their 50 overs.

Pathum Nissanka stole the show with an unbeaten 210, etching his name in history as the first Sri Lankan to notch a double century in ODIs.

Alongside Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando made a significant impact, hammering 88 runs off 88 balls. Sadeera Samarawickrama also got in on the action, scoring 45 runs from 36 deliveries.

Turning to the bowling, Pramod Madushan led the charge with four wickets. Dushmantha Chameera backed him up with two, and Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana bowled economically.

Looking ahead to this match, Sri Lanka hopes to reinforce their dominance at home and cement an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

Afghanistan

On the other hand, Afghanistan bowlers had a tough time containing the Sri Lankan batters. However, their batters stepped up and gave the hosts a real run for their money.

While Afghanistan's top order faltered to even reach double figures, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi unleashed some serious firepower against the Lankan Lions, scoring a century each.

Omarzai smashed an unbeaten 149 off 115 balls, while Nabi blazed his way to 136 runs from 130 balls. Unfortunately, their stellar performance wasn't enough, as they fell short by 42 runs.

As they gear up for this game, Afghanistan is counting on their top-order batters and bowlers to step up and level the series at 1-1.
