Sri Lanka A stormed into the final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 final after defeating Pakistan A by seven wickets in the first semi-final in Al Amerat on Friday. The Lankans will now face the winner of the India A vs Afghanistan A semi-final 2 in the ultimate showdown on Sunday.

Pakistan A had an abysmal start in their first innings as they lost three wickets in the powerplay after Ehsan Malinga destroyed their top order by taking two early wickets of Mohammad Haris (6) and Qasim Akram (0) to put Sri Lanka A in control as Pakistan A scored 45/3 in the first six.
Despite the immense pressure, Omair Yousuf turned hero amidst the collapse as he played an amazing knock of 68 off 46 balls while wickets continued to fall at the other end. He displayed great maturity and kept the scoreboard ticking, finding odd boundary here and there. His knock was studded with five fours and four sixes.

Led by Dushan Hemantha, Sri Lanka A’s bowlers put a leash on Pakistan A batters. Hemantha's excellent spell saw him bag four wickets for just 21 runs. He played a huge role in demolishing Pakistan A's middle order. Nipun Ransika and Malinga also chipped in with a couple of wickets each.
The lack of support for Yousuf meant Pakistan A struggled to get going before eventually settling for a dismal total of 135/9 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka A came out all guns blazing in their chase as openers Yashodha Lanka and Lahiru Udara displayed aggressive intent. However, a freak dismissal saw Lanka ruled out for obstructing the field after scoring 11.
Despite his wicket, Udara continued to smash Pakistan bowlers as he blazed his way to a quickfire 43 off 20 balls and set a strong platform for his team.

On the other hand, Ahan Wickramasinghe anchored the innings exceptionally well by playing a calculated knock of 52* off 46 balls with fours boundaries and a six.
He ensured there were no further problems and guided Sri Lanka A to a comfortable victory by seven wickets and 21 balls to spare. Pakistan A's bowlers could not leave their mark and it resulted in a forgettable performance that saw them knocked out of the tournament.
