In a bizarre decision, Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill subbed out himself after the conclusion of his team's batting against Rajasthan Royals. When GT came out to defend the total, there was no Gil with the team and the news came that he won't take further part in the match.

Rashid Khan, who has previously led the franchise is leading the team at the moment against RR. The reason for this substitution is unknown, but it could be due to a potential niggle or a fatigue from batting in excessive heat.

Gill subbed out, is he actually injured?

Rarely a captain subs out himself, so eyebrows were raised when Shubman Gill was removed after the first innings. However, there is a major factor why this decision was taken. In Jaipur, where the match is taking place, there is excessive heat at the moment and the temperature has reached 34 degrees. Gill batted for almost 17 overs and ran a lot of singles and doubles which could have caused cramps.

Hence, the team management perhaps decided to sub him out as a precautionary measure against RR.

GT score 209 but RR off to flying start

GT openers were off to a solid start as they added 93 runs for the first wicket. Sai Sudharsan scored 39 runs and became the current holder of the Orange Cap holder. Gill, on the other hand missed out on his century as he smashed 84 off 50.

The mantle was taken forward by Jos Buttler as his finishing touches helped GT post 209. In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave a flying start as they added 50 runs in quick time with Suryavanshi etching towards his maiden fifty.
